CDS is a UPSC exam conducted twice a year — the gateway to four prestigious military academies for graduates across all disciplines.
IMA (Indian Military Academy, Dehradun), INA (Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala), AFA (Air Force Academy, Hyderabad), and OTA (Officers Training Academy, Chennai). Each leads to a commissioned officer's life in the respective service.
Any graduate can apply for CDS. IMA requires an unmarried male with any degree. INA requires Engineering. AFA requires Physics & Maths at 10+2 level. OTA is open to both men and women — any degree qualifies.
CDS I notification in October (exam February) and CDS II notification in May (exam September). Results are declared by UPSC; SSB interviews follow at respective Selection Boards across India.
Women can apply for OTA through CDS — Short Service Commission as an officer in the Indian Army. The exam pattern skips Mathematics for OTA. The Cavalier offers dedicated OTA preparation for women aspirants.
Each CDS entry leads to a different service and career path. The Cavalier coaches for all four.
Three papers for IMA / INA / AFA. Two papers (no Maths) for OTA. Each paper is MCQ-based with negative marking.

Most institutes focus only on IMA. The Cavalier prepares students for all four entries including INA (Engineering graduates) and OTA for women. One institute, all entries.
CDS written and SSB coaching are fully integrated. WAT, TAT, GTO tasks, Personal Interview — all included in every CDS batch. No separate SSB coaching needed.
Women aspiring for OTA get focused preparation — English and GK only, SSB coaching with female-specific guidance, and dedicated faculty for women's entries.
